Police destroyed a keke NAPEP for disobeying lock down rules in Mubi Adamawa State

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri says though painful, the decision is necessary to save lives.

Today 14th April, 2020 around 1:30 pm Mubi  South High way patrol Police destroyed a keke NAPEP for going against the lock down rules In Adamawa state.

ADAMAWA STATE LOCK DOWN RULES

The Adamawa State Government has imposed a lockdown throughout the State in an effort to avoid the spread of Corona Virus disease for a period of 14 Days with effect from midnight Tuesday March 31st 2020.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri says though painful, the decision is necessary to save lives.

Inter State travel restriction is also imposed as inter State and international borders with Cameroon are to remain shut during this period.

The ban also affects tricycle, taxis and bus operators throughout the State.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri regretted that the directive to workers on grade levels 1-14 to stay at home was not adhered to in the first instance and therefore Government is left with no option than to impose the lockdown in the overall interest of the people as Covid-19 continues to spread with 111 reported cases in Nigeria so far.

“Social Activities such as Clubbing and Joints are banned, Markets are also hereby restricted, except for those selling food items, Pharmaceuticals, Filling Stations, while Banks are to provide skeletal services”.

The Government however emphasises on the need to ensure basic hygiene practices of hand washing, social distancing and avoiding crowded places.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the measures are aimed at stemming the spread of a Corona Virus outbreak that has hobbled the economy, threatened to overwhelm public health care and killed more people than any other disease.

He said “we all have to forgo something for the good of Adamawa State.
