Police Smash Gun-Running Syndicate, Recover Weapons Inside Alcoholic Packs


A suspected member of a gun-running syndicate which supplies weapons to criminal gangs in Lagos has been arrested by the Police.

Recovered, were two berretta pistols which were concealed inside alcoholic packs and wooden boxes.
The arrested suspect, Samuel Peter, was reportedly on his way to deliver the weapon to some criminals when operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Ajah area of the state, apprehended him.
When accosted, he told the operatives that the content of the box was Colorado drug. But when they insisted on him opening the box, the berretta pistols were found. Police sources hinted that the operatives stormed Jakande Estate, Lekki, following information that some boys were planning to cause havoc.
In his confessional statement, the suspect, said:
“ Mayaki gave the box to me to deliver to one Paul. I am an iron bender, I knew Mayaki at Jakande estate.
He told me the content was Colorado drug.
“I have served as a delivery boy for Mayaki for a while and didn’t know what was in the box, as I never opened it.
At the end of each delivery, I get N2,000 or N3,000, depending on the distance, as errand boy”, the Plateau- state born suspect said.
The suspects who were among those paraded by the Lagos State Police Command boss, CP Hakeem Odumosu, Monday, would e charged to court, while efforts were still on to arrest those mentioned.
