Suspected cattle rustlers have attacked Mbemun, a fishing and farming community in Lamurde local government area of Adamawa State.
The attackers destroyed properties and left with cattle belonging to residents, sources said.
One of the sources, who spoke Saturday morning, said: “Hausa/Fulani cattle rustlers attacked Mbemun last night, burnt houses, cars and other valuables and carted away cattle.”
On Thursday evening, the Hausa and Chamba communities in Tigno in the same Lamurde LGA had clashed following an argument allegedly after a youth was hut by a motorcyclist.
Houses had been destroyed and hundreds of residents displaced, and Governor Ahmadu Fintiri had visited the place Friday afternoon to see things for himself.
Speaking on the attack in Mbemun, residents said the entire community fell under the attack, but no death occurred as the residents managed to escape.
Information Officer of the LGA, Mr Zidon Pwagwadi said about 50 houses were razed by the attackers, believed to be Fulani cattle rustlers, who carted away many herds of cattle.
Spokesman of the Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, was not on hand to comment on the Mbemun attack.
Calls put to his line and a text message requesting his comment had not been answered up to early afternoon Saturday when this report was filed.
