AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA - IN MATTERS OF DKM PAYMENT.

Your Excellency - President of this great republic, we wish to be welcomed into your home this morning just for a hearing.

We are the coalition of affected DKM customers whose plight you sort to redress during your last State of the Nations Address on 20th February, 2020. We had until then relied on the hope of your campaign promise to ensure all monies are duly paid to us.

This hope grew bleak until your able Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia in his Town Hall meeting at KNUST in Kumasi on Tuesday, February 11, 2020; publicly assured the whole nation that, customers of the defunct Micro- Finance Institutions including DKM shall receive all of their principals.

Again, our skepticism dried up when your venerable self, assured the Chiefs (Nananom) and people of the Bono East Traditional Council of full payment of the principals of the affected DKM customers.
Fast forward, February 20th, 2020 you nailed home our hope in your State of the Nation’s Address; even more when you directed the finance minister to release funds to this effect.

But Your Excellency, up until today, they have not carried out your directive. We contacted the office of the liquidator for the DKM, Mrs. Jemima Oware and she said no monies are released to her for such a purpose. However, Your Excellency, Mr. Eric Nipa is on record to have received the said amount you directed should be used to pay all the micro-finance companies including DKM.
We find it worrying why he cannot release the quota the liquidator would need to pay us the affected customers of defunct DKM micro- finance.
We have reached out to the authorities in this regard but nothing has come out and as the commander in chief of this republic, we find it apt to draw your attention to this development.

Your Excellency, we have incessantly suffered the difficulty this DKM fall-out left us with since May 11, 2015. Out business have collapsed, we lost our loved ones who died from the shock and pain of losing their lifetime investments and saying.

We are not slapped by only this but also, the brats of the Covid-19 pandemic. You can imagine how deep our wounds are now.
We pray you  kindly direct the authorities to expedite action towards payment just as you promised.

Thank you, Your Excellency.
