FIFTY PEOPLE ARE NOW ALLOWED TO WORSHIP DURING EASTER CELEBRATION, MESSAGE FROM CAN ADAMAWA STATE

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, 9th April, 2020

AT THE WAKE OF COVID – 19 PANDEMIC: A CALL FOR PRAYER,  VIGILANCE AND COMPLIANCE

The pace at which the Corona Virus is spreading in our Country today calls for Prayer, Vigilance and compliance with relevant bodies in the struggles for curtailing the further spread and the far-reaching damages of the disease. As a Church in Adamawa State, we shall continue to comply fully with the directives of the state authorities in curbing the spread of the Virus. We therefore call on you dear brethren to cooperate maximally with the relevant Government agencies in their efforts and measures towards the welfare of our people in the face of this killer disease.
Considering the importance of Holy Week and Easter in the history of our faith and in order not to celebrate Easter without any Liturgical activity we encourage smaller units of congregational assemblies of 50 people only for the Holy Week ceremonies and Easter Sunday Masses and Services. Bloc Leaders, Heads of Churches, Bishops, Priests and Pastors should please ensure that this directive is strictly adhered to. The Faithful are encouraged to continue with private devotions in their respective homes.
If Masses and Services must be conducted in a Church, we recommend besides the social distance that soap, running water and hand sanitizers should be provided at every Church entrance. We encourage people to please stay at home and go out only when necessary. Please stay safe at home and pray at home. Prevention is better than cure!
With you in communion of prayers, I remain,

Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Dami Mamza
Catholic Bishop of Yola and CAN chairman Adamawa State
