Going by the recent increase in Covid 19 Cases in Adamawa state , with the highest case in Mubi the second largest Local Government in the star declared a total lockdown from Tomorrow 5TH MAY, 2020 TO 6TH MAY, 2020 To minimse the spread of Corona virus.
ADAMAWA STATE RECORDS 7 ADDITIONAL CASES OF COVID-19, MAKING A TOTAL OF 12 CONFIRMED CASES
The Secretary to the State Government SSG who is the State Chairman COVID-19 Containment Committee, Malam Bashir Ahmad has announced confirmation of seven new cases of coronavirus in Adamawa making a total of twelve cases in the state.
Malam Ahmad who made the announcement while briefing journalists at the COVID-19 situation room, state Secretariat, Yola said five of the new positive cases were direct contact of the initial case in Mubi, one new case from Lamurde and one is an escapee from Gombe state.
He added that the six new cases were from the forty sample results returned to the state out of the sixty three samples sent to the Nigeria Centre for Diseases Control NCDC laboratory in Abuja in which the rest thirty four samples were confirmed negative.
The Chairman further said that the seventh case was an escapee from Gombe State into Adamawa, after his samples were collected and later confirmed positive and thereafter the state government having got the report went after him and got him apprehended around Jalingo.
He expressed regret that Mubi is now the epicenter of the virus in Adamawa and raised alarm that the area may be lockdown to curtail the spread of the virus and called on people to continue to observe personal hygiene through hand Washing and wearing facemask.
